Western Sydney Servos Offering Some of the Best Petrol Deals in the Country Right Now

Right, so while everyone's been banging on about diesel prices and what's happening down in Victoria, there's been some cracking deals popping up right here in Western Sydney that you'd be mad to miss.

Here's the thing. While Melbourne motorists are copping price jumps of 40 cents or more in some suburbs, us lot in the west have been sitting pretty with some of the most competitive petrol and diesel prices in the entire country.

Granville and Fairfield Leading the Charge

If you're out near Granville, you'll want to know that servos there are doing the right thing by locals. We're seeing diesel at around 168.5 cents a litre across three stations, all matching each other. That's proper competition working the way it should.

Head down the road to Fairfield and it's a similar story. Four servos there averaging 170.4 cents for diesel, with the cheapest coming in at just 165.5 cents. That's a good 15 to 20 cents cheaper than what you'd pay at plenty of inner city spots.

Auburn and Smithfield Worth a Look Too

Auburn has been consistently solid lately. Four stations there averaging 170.9 cents for diesel, and if you shop around you can find it at 168.5 cents. Not bad at all when you consider the state average for NSW is sitting at 188.1 cents.

Now, Smithfield is an interesting one. The average is 172.7 cents but here's the kicker: the cheapest servo there is doing diesel at just 162.5 cents. Worth keeping an eye on if you're heading through that way.

The Eastern Creek Industrial Area

For the tradies and truck drivers who spend half their lives on the M4 and M7, Eastern Creek continues to be a reliable spot. Four stations there averaging 177.7 cents with the best price at 174.9 cents. When you're filling up a work ute or van regularly, those savings add up quick.

How Does Sydney Compare to the Rest?

Look, I've been keeping an eye on the numbers across the country, and here's what stands out. South Australia is currently the cheapest state overall for diesel at 182.3 cents average, followed by Western Australia at 184.2 cents and Victoria at 185.6 cents.

But here's what the state averages don't tell you: individual suburbs in NSW are absolutely smashing it. Despite NSW having an average of 188.1 cents, our Western Sydney suburbs are competitive with the cheapest spots anywhere in Australia.

Bexley down south is another one worth mentioning. One servo there has diesel at just 163.4 cents, which is seriously competitive. The spread there is pretty big though, with some charging up to 193.9 cents, so you've gotta shop around.

Meanwhile Down the South Coast

For anyone planning a summer trip down the coast, Nowra has some decent prices. Three servos there with the cheapest at 162.9 cents and an average of 170.8 cents. And Batemans Bay is looking surprisingly good too, with all three stations sitting between 175.9 and 176.9 cents. That's not bad at all for a holiday town.

Even Port Kembla down near Wollongong is showing solid prices, averaging 173.9 cents.

What About Unleaded?

Now I know I've been talking diesel here, but the petrol story is similar. The servos that are competitive on diesel tend to be competitive on ULP and E10 as well. If you're running standard unleaded, the same suburbs I mentioned are generally your best bet.

The key is to avoid the highway servos and the inner city where you'll pay a premium. The industrial areas and outer suburbs almost always offer better value.

The Bottom Line

If you're in Sydney and feeling the pinch at the bowser, head west. Seriously. The difference between filling up in the CBD versus Granville or Fairfield could easily save you $8 to $10 on a 50 litre tank.

And with the new year just getting started, those savings are gonna add up. Whether you're commuting to work, running a business with a fleet, or just doing the family shop run, a bit of planning on where you fill up makes a real difference.

Look, end of the day, the west has always done things a bit differently. And right now, that includes offering some of the best fuel deals in the country. Can't argue with that.
