Werrington and St Marys Hold Unleaded at 231.9 as Penrith Servos Climb to 247.9

Right, so if you live out Penrith way, you've probably noticed the bowser creeping up again this week. A short run of servos on the Great Western Highway has barely moved, though, so have a squiz at this before your next fill.

At the noon reading on Friday 9th Oct 2026 (12:00pm AEDT), Metro Werrington and Metro St Marys were both selling unleaded at 231.9, with Pearl Energy Colyton on 231.5. Out at Emu Plains, the EG Ampol and the 7 Eleven were asking 247.9. Fair dinkum, that's 16 cents a litre between servos on the same highway, about 10 kilometres apart.

The west has gone up again

Petrolmate tracks 59 servos across the Penrith and Mount Druitt area, from Glenbrook across to Eastern Creek and up to Riverstone. Their middle unleaded price was 209.9 on 10th Sep, jumped to 239.9 by 19th Sep in Sydney's last big restoration, and sat around 241.9 through the back half of September.

By Monday 5th Oct it had eased a touch to 239.9. You'd reckon that was the start of the slow slide that usually follows a restoration, but it went the other way. Since Monday, 34 of those 59 servos have lifted by 3 cents or more, and 28 of them by 5 cents or more. The middle price is now 245.9, the highest it's been in the past month, and 42 of the 59 are on 244.9 or above.

In Penrith itself, the Ampol Foodary sites on Lugard Street and Coreen Avenue and the 7 Eleven on Henry Street are on 244.9. The BP on Mulgoa Road at Jamisontown is on 247.9.

The highway strip that sat still

Here's the thing, right. The two Metros at Werrington and St Marys and Pearl Energy at Colyton held unleaded at exactly 229.5 every day from 24th Sep to 7th Oct. This week, while the servos around them went up, the Metros lifted 2.4 cents on Thursday and Pearl lifted 2 cents today. That's the lot.

The servos right next door aren't much dearer. EG Ampol Werrington and the 7 Eleven at 577 Great Western Highway, both about 160 metres from Metro Werrington, are on 233.9 and 234.9. The 7 Eleven at Colyton is on 232.9.

The odd one out is the 7 Eleven at Kingswood, also on the highway. It was on 245.9 last weekend, came down to 233.9 by Wednesday and is on 235.9 today. That's 9 cents under the 7 Eleven on Henry Street in Penrith, about 2 kilometres away under the same sign. Worth remembering next time someone tells you all the 7 Eleven servos charge the same.

Step off the highway and it costs you

You don't have to drive far for the gap to open up. The Ampol Foodary on Dunheved Road, about 3 kilometres north of Metro Werrington, has gone from 238.9 at the start of the month to 245.9. In St Marys, the Shell Reddy Express on Christie Street, about 2.5 kilometres from Metro St Marys, went from 238.7 on Monday to 245.7. The EG Ampol at Mount Druitt, roughly 2.3 kilometres from Pearl Energy Colyton, is on 246.9.

What it's worth

Say you've got a 50 litre tank. Filling at 231.9 instead of 247.9 saves you $8, and against the local middle price of 245.9 it's $7. Fill once a week and that's around $360 a year, which pays for a fair few schooners. No need to cop it sweet at 247.9 when the cheaper strip is a short drive away.

If your car takes E10, the strip is cheaper again. Metro Werrington and Metro St Marys have E10 at 229.9 and Pearl Energy Colyton has it at 229.5, the usual 2 cents under their unleaded. Check your owner's manual first, and keep an eye on E10 prices if you're switching over.

Worth keeping an eye on

The highway strip has already nudged up 2 cents this week, so there's no promise it holds. Petrolmate picks up the official NSW figures several times a day, so check before you head out rather than banking on a price you saw yesterday arvo.

Our best time to fill up guide runs through how Sydney's price cycle usually plays out, and you can compare unleaded petrol prices right across NSW.

If you're out that way anyway, the Great Western Highway between Kingswood and Colyton is the spot to fill this arvo. Look, end of the day, that's $8 back on a tank for picking the right stretch of highway. Can't argue with that.
