Brisbane Petrol Turns the Corner as Coopers Plains Drops 12 Cents
Right, so a week or so back the Brisbane southside copped a 19 cent hike and everyone was filthy about it. Fair enough too. But here's the thing, right, the cycle always comes back down, and as of Saturday 11th Jul 2026 it's doing exactly that. If you held off filling the tank, good on ya, because that patience is about to pay off.
The southside is leading the way down
The standout is Coopers Plains, where standard unleaded has come back 12.3 cents this week to an average of 170.6 across five servos. E10 is even better value out that way, down 12.8 cents to 168.9. For a suburb that was north of 182 not long ago, that's a proper turnaround, and it's the sort of number that makes the detour worth it if you're anywhere near the southside.
Just down the road, Acacia Ridge is doing the right thing on the diesel front as well. Premium diesel has eased 10.9 cents to 182.5, and regular diesel starts from 175.5 at the cheapest servo there. Anyone running a ute or towing for work, that's one to keep in the back pocket.
If you wanna see how your suburb stacks up, have a squiz at the live unleaded petrol prices across Brisbane before you head out. The gap between servos right now is genuinely worth the look.
The northside is following, slowly
Up north in Kallangur, the drops are coming through too, just not as hard yet. E10 has pulled back 11.1 cents to 186.8, premium 95 is down 12.5 to 204.4, and premium 98 has eased 12.6 to 213.8. Good direction, but still a fair whack dearer than what the southside is paying.
That's the Brisbane cycle for you. The discounting never lands everywhere at once. It starts in the competitive pockets and spreads out over a few days. So if you're up around Kallangur or North Lakes and the tank can wait until early next week, I reckon you'll do better. If you're running on fumes, at least you're buying on the way down, not the way up. Worth a read of the best time to fill up guide if you want the timing sorted properly.
Regional Queensland getting a fair go too
It's not just the big smoke. Out west, Goondiwindi diesel has come back 11.9 cents to 184.3 across nine servos, which is well under the Queensland state diesel average of 195.1. Up the coast, Bowen has dropped 13.8 cents to 189.1, and Charlton near Toowoomba is down 11.2 to 190.7.
One to watch though: Toowoomba Regional itself went the other way, up 13.3 to 201.2. So if you're hauling along the Warrego, fill at Charlton or push through to Goondiwindi rather than topping up in Toowoomba. That's a 17 cent difference for the sake of planning your stop.
What it means for your wallet
Now, you'd be mad not to do the sums. A 12 cent drop on a 50 litre tank is six bucks back in your pocket. Do that every fill for a month and you're looking at the price of a decent slab, just for paying attention to which way the cycle is moving.
And the spread matters more than the average. In Kallangur the gap between servos is still double digits on most fuels, so even on the northside you can beat the suburb average just by picking the right driveway. Checking E10 prices before you leave the house takes about ten seconds and it's the easiest money you'll save all week.
Look, end of the day, Brisbane petrol is on the way down and the southside is already there. Fill up cheap while it lasts, because we all know the next hike is never far away. A bit of planning means more cash in your pocket for the important stuff. Can't argue with that.
