Lyndhurst EG Ampol Cuts Unleaded 15 Cents While South East Melbourne's 7 Elevens Ease 4

Official fuel price data for Victoria shows unleaded easing from last week's peak at 132 servos across south east Melbourne, and the pace of the fall depends heavily on the brand on the sign. The figures were checked at 2:10pm AEDT on Monday 19th Oct 2026 and cover the area from Springvale and Dandenong out to Pakenham, Cranbourne and Carrum Downs.

EG Ampol falls further than 7 Eleven

The median unleaded price across those 132 servos was 235.8 on Sunday 4th Oct. It climbed for a week to 242.5 by Monday 12th Oct, and by Sunday night it had eased to 236.9. That is a 5.6 cent fall, and 123 of the 132 servos are now cheaper than on 12th Oct.

On 12th Oct the median EG Ampol and 7 Eleven prices were the same, at 244.9. Six days later, the 11 EG Ampol sites have a median of 234.9, and 10 of them have cut at least 6 cents from last week's high. The 25 7 Eleven sites have a median of 240.9, and 17 of them have eased 4 cents or less. BP's median went from 243.9 to 239.9, Shell's from 242.5 to 236.9 and United's from 237.5 to 233.3.

Greater Melbourne shows the same split. Among 772 metropolitan servos, the EG Ampol median fell from 244.9 to 236.9 and the 7 Eleven median from 244.9 to 241.9.

The Thompsons Road spread narrows

Four servos sit within about 1.5 kilometres on Thompsons Road between Cranbourne West and Lyndhurst. On Tuesday 13th Oct, BP Westernport at number 910 and EG Ampol Lyndhurst at number 945 both listed unleaded at 247.9. Liberty Cranbourne West at number 928 and United Cranbourne West at number 1060 were on 237.5, a spread of 10.4 cents.

Late on Wednesday 14th Oct, EG Ampol Lyndhurst cut 12 cents to 235.9. It lodged 233.9 early on Friday and 232.9 early on Sunday, 15 cents down in all. Liberty and United have both stepped down to 232.5, which leaves the EG Ampol just 0.4 cents above them. BP Westernport has eased to 237.9, 5.4 cents dearer than the Liberty 163 metres away.

Hall Road, Carrum Downs

EG Ampol has made the same move in Carrum Downs. EG Ampol Carrum Downs on Hall Road went from 245.9 on 13th Oct to 230.9 by early Saturday, also a 15 cent fall. United Carrum Downs at 1 Hall Road, about 1.2 kilometres away, is on 228.9, and U Go Carrum Downs on Frankston Dandenong Road lodged 227.2 just after midnight on Monday, the lowest unleaded price in the area. 7 Eleven Carrum Downs on Amayla Crescent lists 242.9, 3 cents below its peak and 14 cents above the United 856 metres away.

7 Eleven stays high beside cheaper rivals

A cheap independent nearby has not pushed the 7 Elevens to match it. On Narre Warren Cranbourne Road, 7 Eleven Narre Warren and United Narre Warren South are 285 metres apart. On 12th Oct the 7 Eleven was at 244.9 and the United at 241.9, 3 cents apart. United has since cut to 233.3 and the 7 Eleven only to 241.9, so the gap has widened to 8.6 cents.

7 Eleven Cranbourne West on Evans Road is still on 245.9, among the dearest prices in the area and 13.4 cents above United on Thompsons Road, 1.4 kilometres away.

This is consistent with the falling side of Melbourne's price cycle, when retailers bring prices down at different speeds, and this time EG Ampol has moved faster than 7 Eleven.

E10 and diesel

E10 is cheaper again at the independents. Liberty and United on Thompsons Road sell it at 228.5, 4 cents under their unleaded, and United Carrum Downs lists 224.9. 7 Eleven Cranbourne West's E10 is 243.9, while EG Ampol Lyndhurst and BP Westernport list none. Current E10 prices are listed for each site.

Liberty and United Cranbourne West sell regular diesel at 269.5. The EG Ampol, BP and 7 Eleven sites named in this report list only premium diesel, at 272.9 to 283.5, so check the grade before comparing diesel prices.

What it means for motorists

On a 50 litre fill, the 13.4 cent gap between 7 Eleven Cranbourne West and United Thompsons Road is worth $6.70. 7 Eleven now has the highest median of the major brands here, so check unleaded petrol prices before leaving home. The guide to the best time to fill up explains how the cycle works.

A week on from the peak, most of the area's 7 Eleven sites are still within 4 cents of last week's high. Whether they follow EG Ampol down is the thing to watch on our price trends page.
