Nailsworth Unleaded Sits 18 Cents Under Norwood as Adelaide Prices Keep Climbing
Right, so I've got a few mates in Adelaide and they've been in my ear all week about the price of unleaded. Fair enough too. I had a proper look at Adelaide this arvo, and prices across the whole town have been climbing for a fortnight. Here's the thing, right. It's dearer everywhere, but where you fill up over there matters more than it has in ages.
Two weeks of lifts
As of 1:30pm ACST on Tuesday 22nd Sep 2026, the 200 servos closest to the CBD are averaging 233.1 a litre for unleaded. More than half of them, 112 in all, are asking 234.9 or more.
The eastern suburbs are the dear end. The OTR sites in Norwood, Stepney, Kensington Gardens, Marryatville and Tranmere are all on 237.9, and so is the EG Ampol at Felixstow. A fortnight ago OTR Norwood was on 209.9. It was 219.9 this time last week, jumped 9 cents in one hit, and has gone up every day since by anywhere from one to four cents at a time. That's 28 cents in two weeks, or $14 more to fill a 50 litre tank than you were paying a fortnight ago.
Main North Road is doing the right thing
Now head 4.6 kilometres across to Nailsworth. Solo Nailsworth on Main North Road is on 219.5, which is the cheapest unleaded I can find anywhere near the city. EG Ampol Nailsworth just down the road is asking 221.9, and so is X Convenience Prospect on the other side of the road. That's three servos inside 250 metres, all under 222.
Fair dinkum, there's 18.4 cents between Solo Nailsworth and the Norwood pack. On 50 litres that's $9.20, near enough a pint at the local.
The cheap servos haven't dodged the rise, mind you. EG Ampol Nailsworth was 199.9 two weeks ago, so it's up 22 cents. The eastern sites have just climbed faster, and the gap between the two ends of town has gone from 10 cents to 16 cents in a fortnight.
Keep an eye on the OTR in Prospect as well. It's on 230.9, which is 9 cents over its Main North Road neighbours but 7 cents under the same brand in Norwood. That's the same logo on the same day with 7 cents between them.
The rest of the cheap pack
Only 19 of those 200 servos are on 224.9 or less, and all but four of them are north of the city. North East Road is the other good strip, with X Convenience Klemzig, Solo Windsor Gardens and the Mobil at Hampstead Gardens all sitting on 222.5.
If you're south of the city, Ampol Foodary Edwardstown and Liberty Clarence Gardens are both on 224.9, and an independent in St Marys is on 223.4. There's also Costco Kilburn on 222.7, but that's only any good to you if you've got the membership card.
Diesel's copping it too
The South Australia diesel average was 268.2 last Tuesday arvo and it's 289.2 today. That's 21 cents in a week. NSW and Victoria have moved by about the same, so the whole market is going up and Adelaide isn't on its own.
Around town, the cheapest diesel you can buy without a membership is 277.9. That's at the Mobil and United in Blair Athol and the two independents at Clearview and West Hindmarsh. It's 11.3 cents under the metro average, so a 70 litre ute tank comes out close to eight bucks cheaper. The diesel prices page will show you what's near you.
What I'd do
I can't tell you when this stops. Adelaide servos normally move in cycles, with a dip you can plan around, but the last fortnight has been one long climb with no dip at all. Anyone holding off for the price to drop has just watched it keep going up.
So don't wait on it. If you're in the eastern suburbs and heading north for work anyway, fill up on Main North Road or North East Road on the way. If you're not out that way, check before you leave, because the cheap servos this week aren't the brands you'd guess.
