Kadina, Wallaroo and Moonta Hold Unleaded at 245.9 as Adelaide Falls 14 Cents to 225.9

Right, so if you fill up on the Copper Coast, the drop Adelaide has had since mid October has barely reached you. The nine servos across Kadina, Wallaroo and Moonta have a median unleaded price of 245.9 this morning. That's just 1 cent under where they sat on 13th Oct, while the Adelaide median has come down 14 cents over the same stretch.

These are the prices lodged with South Australia's official fuel price scheme, read at 7:30am ACDT on 5th Nov 2026. All times below are ACDT.

The gap went from 7 cents to 20

Here's the thing, right. On 13th Oct the Adelaide median was 239.9 across 287 servos and the Copper Coast median was 246.9, a gap of 7 cents. Adelaide then stepped down to 235.9 on 20th Oct, 228.9 on 26th Oct and 225.9 today. On those same dates the Copper Coast went 246.9, 245.9 and 245.9, so the gap is now 20.0 cents.

Fair dinkum, the cheapest Copper Coast price today is 244.9, and the dearest of the 256 Adelaide servos with a current price is 235.9. Whichever of those you pull into, you're paying at least 9 cents a litre less than at the cheapest pump on the Copper Coast.

Who's on what

This morning's unleaded prices across the nine:

Hunts Fuel has sat on 244.9 since 7th Oct. Five of the nine trimmed exactly 1 cent on 22nd and 23rd Oct, and since then Wallaroo Ampol is the only one to cut, from 249.9 to 244.9 at 6:24am on Monday 2nd Nov.

Two went the other way. OTR Kadina lifted from 245.9 to 247.4 at 12:15pm on Saturday 31st Oct, and Mobil Kadina went from 245.9 to 247.9 at 5:43am on Monday. EG Ampol Kadina had a go at 249.9 at 7:32am on 29th Oct and was back on 244.9 by 11:27am, much like EG Ampol did in Mount Gambier that same morning.

Moonta's two servos move as one

Mobil Moonta and Shell Moonta have changed price within 13 seconds of each other on all eight moves since 17th Sep, and they've landed on the same number every time. Mobil Wallaroo matched seven of those eight moves within three minutes. That looks a lot like one pricing call covering all three, though the data can't tell us who makes it. Either way, while the three move together, none of them is chasing the others down. You can compare the brand's other sites on the Mobil page.

Cheaper fuel if you're heading that way

There are two lower prices within an hour or so. Eglington Bros BP in Maitland, about 46 km south of Kadina as the crow flies, is on 238.0. Shell Snowtown in Snowtown, about 51 km east, is on 239.9. That's 6.9 and 5.0 cents under the cheapest price on the Copper Coast. If the drive's already on the cards, fill up there. It's not enough to justify a special trip.

What it means at the pump

On unleaded, Adelaide's 225.9 against the Copper Coast's 245.9 is 20 cents a litre at today's medians, or $12.00 on a 60 litre tank. That's a couple of coffees gone before you've left town. So if you're making the trip to Adelaide anyway, fill up in the city. Run your own numbers on the savings calculator and check current unleaded petrol prices before you fill.

In town, the spread from 244.9 to 249.9 is 5 cents, or $3.00 on 60 litres. Small, but you'd be mad to pay the top price when the bottom one is around the corner.

If you run E10, none of the nine servos lists it with the state scheme.

Keep an eye on price trends to see whether the Copper Coast follows Adelaide down.

Look, end of the day, until one of these servos blinks, a bit of planning around a city trip puts about $12 back in your pocket. Can't argue with that.
