Cannon Hill Unleaded at 221.5 Sits 24 Cents Under Northgate Across Brisbane
Unleaded prices across Brisbane at 8:15am AEST on 1st Oct 2026 show two parts of the city, about 10 kilometres apart, sitting roughly 24 cents a litre from each other, with the same brands on both sides of the gap. Every figure below is a price lodged under Queensland's mandatory fuel price reporting scheme.
The eastern cluster at 221.5
Within about two kilometres of Cannon Hill, seven servos are showing unleaded at 221.5 or 221.9 cents a litre. Four of them sit along a 1.9 kilometre stretch of Wynnum Road: Pearl Energy Cannon Hill, 7 Eleven Tingalpa and Shell Tingalpa at 221.5, and EG Ampol Cannon Hill at 221.9. The 7 Eleven sites at Murarrie and Carina and the Shell Reddy Express on Creek Road are also at 221.9.
Widen the circle to four kilometres and the 16 servos inside it have a median of 224.4 cents. The average is higher, at 228.9, because a few dearer sites sit on the edges, including Caltex Norman Park at 245.9 and Ampol Camp Hill at 241.9.
Northgate holds at 245.9
On the other side of the river, the four servos closest to Northgate are all at 245.9: 7 Eleven Northgate and BP Northgate on Toombul Road, EG Ampol Virginia further along Toombul Road, and the Ampol Foodary on Sandgate Road at Nundah.
The 19 servos within four kilometres average 240.6 cents. Most of the Sandgate Road sites through Virginia are at 239.9, and the cheapest in the area are the three Gympie Road sites in Kedron, at 234.9.
Same brand, different price
7 Eleven Tingalpa is at 221.5 and 7 Eleven Northgate is at 245.9, a gap of 24.4 cents between two sites 9.7 kilometres apart. EG Ampol Cannon Hill and EG Ampol Virginia are 24.0 cents apart over 10.5 kilometres.
On a 60 litre tank, that is $132.90 in Tingalpa against $147.54 in Northgate, a difference of $14.64.
How the gap formed
The daily records show the gap was there before the recent climb. On 10th Sep, 7 Eleven Tingalpa was at 195.5 and 7 Eleven Northgate was at 215.9, already 20.4 cents apart. Both areas lifted over the following week. Northgate reached 245.9 on 18th Sep, a climb of 30 cents, while Tingalpa went up in smaller steps to 223.5 by 21st Sep, a climb of 28 cents.
Since then the two areas have gone their own ways. BP Northgate has shown 245.9 every day since 19th Sep. 7 Eleven Northgate and EG Ampol Virginia dropped to 242.9 for a single day on 26th Sep, then went straight back to 245.9. Ampol Nundah has been at 245.9 since 18th Sep.
In the east, prices have edged down. Pearl Energy Cannon Hill and 7 Eleven Tingalpa both moved from 223.5 to 221.5 on 29th Sep, and EG Ampol Cannon Hill followed the same day, from 223.9 to 221.9.
The inner south is closing in
A third group has formed on the southside. 7 Eleven Greenslopes has come down in regular two cent steps, from 231.5 on 24th Sep to 229.5, 227.5, 225.5 and now 223.5. Liberty at Annerley and Moorooka South, Pearl Energy Moorooka and 7 Eleven Moorvale are all at the same 223.5.
Across wider Brisbane
These cheap pockets are the exception. Of the 177 servos within 15 kilometres of the CBD, the median unleaded price is 237.9 cents. Only 16 are at or under 225, all of them in the east and inner south, while 71 are at 239.9 or higher.
E10 follows the same line
E10 prices sit two cents under unleaded at nearly every site in both samples. E10 is 219.5 at Pearl Energy Cannon Hill, 7 Eleven Tingalpa and Shell Tingalpa, and 243.9 at the four Northgate area servos.
What it means for motorists
For northside drivers, Kedron at 234.9 is the closest meaningful saving, worth $6.60 on a 60 litre tank against the 245.9 sites. Anyone already passing through Cannon Hill or Tingalpa will find the lowest prices in this sample. Prices in the east have kept adjusting while the Northgate boards have held at 245.9 since 18th Sep, so it is worth checking live unleaded petrol prices and price trends across Queensland before a fill.
For motorists willing to shop around, the side of Brisbane you fill up on is worth more than 20 cents a litre at the moment.
