OTR Norwood Sits at 235.4 While OTR St Marys Sells Unleaded for 219.9
At 8:10am AEDT on Friday 30th Oct 2026, OTR Norwood lists unleaded at 235.4, while OTR St Marys, about 10 kilometres away, lists it at 219.9. That is a 15.5 cent gap under the same sign, worth $7.75 on a 50 litre tank, and the split goes beyond these two servos. In the official prices lodged by 183 servos within 15 kilometres of the Adelaide CBD, the inner east and the south west are pricing unleaded in two clearly different bands.
Two price bands across Adelaide
Grouping the servos by area gives these unleaded medians:
- Inner east: 23 servos from Unley and Glenunga up to Walkerville and Felixstow, including Norwood, Stepney and Hackney, with a median of 234.9. Fourteen of them are at 232.9 or higher.
- South west: 31 servos from Plympton and Glenelg North down to Darlington, including Edwardstown, Marion and St Marys, with a median of 219.9.
The two medians are 15 cents apart. Across all 183 servos the median is 227.9, and the most common single price is 229.9, listed at 27 servos.
One brand, a 16.5 cent range
OTR runs 80 of the 183 servos in the sample, which makes it the easiest brand to compare from suburb to suburb. Its unleaded prices run from 219.9 to 236.4, and they follow geography closely:
- 15 OTR sites list exactly 235.4, including Norwood, Stepney, Hackney, Evandale, Tranmere, Linden Park, Hazelwood Park and Kensington Gardens.
- 17 sit on 229.9, most of them in the western and northern suburbs such as Hilton, Woodville, Hendon and Para Hills.
- The three cheapest are all in the south west: St Marys at 219.9, Marion at 220.9 and Mitchell Park at 221.9.
The price history shows the two ends of the brand moving at different speeds. OTR Norwood has lodged just two prices since 21st Oct: 237.4, then a 2 cent cut to 235.4 at the start of this week. Over the same stretch OTR St Marys changed its price four times, stepping down from 223.9 on 20th Oct to 217.9 on Tuesday before lifting back to 219.9 on Thursday.
Why the south west is cheaper
There is more independent competition at the cheap end. OTR St Marys shares its suburb with U Go St Marys at 215.6, and Solo Marion is a short drive away at 215.5. Ampol Foodary Edwardstown and Liberty Clarence Gardens are both on 214.9. Each of those is more than 13 cents under the typical inner east price.
The inner east has far fewer low priced independents. Apart from EG Ampol Felixstow at 221.9, the lowest price in that band is 229.5 at X Convenience Unley, followed by 229.9 at Caltex Rose Park, EG Ampol Marryatville, United Glenunga and OTR Glenunga. My read is that with so few cheap rivals nearby, the inner east sites are under less pressure to cut.
What this means for your next fill
Inner east motorists who commute south or west can save around 15 cents a litre by filling up in the south west, or $7.75 on a 50 litre tank. If you are staying in the east, the 229.9 sites at Rose Park, Marryatville and Glenunga beat the 235.4 band by 5.5 cents, about $2.75 a tank. EG Ampol Felixstow does better again: at 221.9 it is 13.5 cents under OTR Norwood, or $6.75 on a 50 litre fill.
The savings calculator puts your own tank size and weekly kilometres against these gaps, and the unleaded petrol prices page shows where South Australia sits against the other states.
All prices quoted are from the South Australian Government's fuel price reporting scheme and can change at any time, so check the interactive fuel map before you head out.
The numbers are clear: in Adelaide this week, the same OTR sign can mean a 15.5 cent difference depending on the suburb, so where you fill up matters as much as which brand you choose.
