Rockingham and Joondalup Unleaded Lift 30 Cents in Two Days While Pinjarra Holds Under 212

Unleaded in Rockingham has lifted 30.8 cents a litre since Tuesday. The three servos there averaged 210.4 on Tuesday 15th Sep, 226.1 on Wednesday and 241.2 by Thursday 17th Sep 2026 at 8:15am AEST, which is 6:15am in Perth. Joondalup went the same way, from 212.3 to 241.9 across four servos, and Greenfields on Mandurah's northern edge went from 210.2 to 241.2.

Across the whole of Western Australia, the official FuelWatch unleaded average moved from 222.1 on Tuesday to 227.9 on Wednesday and 233.5 today. That is a two day lift of 11.4 cents across roughly 930 servos.

The Wednesday step that did not stop

Perth runs on a weekly cycle. Tuesday is usually the cheapest day, and Wednesday is when the major chains step their boards up. This week the step kept going. The state average added 5.8 cents on Wednesday and another 5.6 cents on Thursday.

Comparing Thursday with Thursday strips the cycle out. Last Thursday 10th Sep the unleaded average was 221.7. Today it is 233.5, so the state is 11.8 cents dearer week on week.

The suburbs that barely moved

A handful of suburbs sat the whole thing out. Pinjarra averaged 207.1 on Tuesday and 211.9 today, a rise of just 4.8 cents, with its four servos priced between 209.5 and 214.9. Wanneroo added 4.0 cents to reach 213.1 across six servos, with the cheapest at 203.2. Bullsbrook at 212.8 and Landsdale at 213.3 are holding too, and East Bunbury in the South West averages 215.4.

Pinjarra is about 20 minutes inland from Mandurah, and the two are now 24.1 cents apart. Kwinana Beach is ten minutes up the freeway from Rockingham, and its five servos average 219.0 against Rockingham's 241.2, a gap of 22.2 cents.

The suburbs that held are the ones where independents set the tone. In Kwinana Beach, Vibe is at 206.3, Atlas at 208.9 and the Caltex truck stop at 209.9, while the Shell Reddy Express is at 225.9 and the Ampol Foodary at 243.9. A 37.6 cent spread inside one suburb tells me the cycle reset is a brand decision rather than anything to do with wholesale costs.

Diesel: up every day for more than a week

Diesel does not follow the weekly cycle, and its climb has been steadier. The official WA diesel average was 259.4 on Wednesday 9th Sep and has risen on every one of the eight days since, reaching 270.4 today. That is 11.0 cents in total, with today's move a modest 1.8 cents.

Vibe Kwinana at 241.5 is the cheapest diesel in Western Australia open to any motorist. Two Costco sites list 240.7, but you need a membership to fill there.

What the numbers mean for your next fill

Statistically speaking, a Mandurah motorist who drives to Pinjarra for a 55 litre fill saves $13.26 at today's prices, and a Rockingham driver who detours to Kwinana Beach saves $12.21. The savings calculator will do the sums for your own tank size.

The numbers are clear: this week's cycle reset added around 30 cents in Rockingham, Joondalup and Greenfields, but a 20 minute drive to an independent in Pinjarra, Wanneroo or Kwinana Beach takes most of that back.
