Three South Road Servos Hit 209.9 as Adelaide Unleaded Eases 10 Cents

Adelaide's unleaded price has been easing for a fortnight, but the relief is far from evenly spread. At 2:00pm AEDT on 26th Oct 2026, official figures show three servos on a 1.4 kilometre stretch of South Road selling unleaded at 209.9 cents a litre. That is almost 20 cents under the city median and 23 cents under an OTR site 2.3 kilometres away.

Adelaide's median falls 10 cents

Across 289 Adelaide servos listing unleaded with the official South Australian fuel pricing scheme, the median price has eased from 239.9 on 13 October to 229.5 today. Nearly every servo has moved: 285 of the 287 sites with a price on both dates have cut since then.

How far they have cut depends on the brand. Ampol's 27 Adelaide sites have gone from a median of 241.9 to 227.9, a 14 cent fall, and X Convenience's 38 sites eased from 236.9 to 226.5. OTR, the largest network in the city with 116 sites, moved from 240.4 to 233.4, a fall of 7 cents. Its most common price today is 235.4, listed at 27 sites, almost 6 cents above the city median.

The 209.9 cluster

The cheapest unleaded in Adelaide today is at three neighbouring servos on South Road. Ampol Foodary Edwardstown at 1004 South Road and LMCT Edwardstown at 1112 South Road, both in Edwardstown, are on 209.9. So is U Go St Marys, where South Road meets Southern Avenue in St Marys. No other Adelaide servo is listing unleaded under 215 cents.

The three got to 209.9 in small steps, each site matching the others within hours. Ampol Foodary Edwardstown was on 228.9 on 13 October, 222.9 by 19 October and 219.9 by 24 October. On Sunday 25 October it cut three times in under three hours, from 215.3 down to 213.9, then listed 211.9 at 6:45am today and 209.9 at 10:40am (Adelaide time). LMCT Edwardstown got there first, listing 209.9 at 8:49pm on Sunday. U Go St Marys, 230 metres from LMCT, made its own Sunday cuts to 213.9 and 211.9 and followed at 9:42am today. Ampol Foodary Edwardstown's E10 is now 205.9.

How quickly the discount fades

OTR St Marys, at 1181 South Road and about 370 metres from U Go, is on 219.9, which is 10 cents dearer on the same road. Liberty at 837 South Road in Clarence Gardens is on 220.9, and AM/PM on Daws Road in Edwardstown is on 221.9.

Move east to Goodwood Road and the gap widens. The Ampol Foodary sites in Westbourne Park and Cumberland Park, each under 2 kilometres from Edwardstown, are on 217.9, but OTR Clarence Park, at Goodwood Road and Cross Road, is listing 232.9. That is 23 cents a litre more than Ampol Foodary Edwardstown, or $11.50 on a 50 litre tank, for a drive of 2.3 kilometres. OTR Clarence Park has eased too, from 240.4 on 9 October, but in steps of 2 to 2.5 cents rather than the faster cuts on South Road.

Prices also vary widely under one brand. Ampol stations across Adelaide range from 209.9 at Edwardstown to 235.9, a 26 cent spread. OTR runs from 219.9 at St Marys to 236.9 at Hope Valley.

The suburbs missing out

Petrolmate's analysis puts the western suburbs median at 225.9 and the inner suburbs at 227.9, while the north sits on 232.5 and the east on 233.4. In Salisbury Downs, U Go is on 227.9 and OTR is 8 cents higher at 235.9. AM/PM and EG Ampol in Elizabeth are both on 228.9, almost 19 cents above the South Road cluster.

A city wide fall of 10 cents is welcome, but where several sellers sit on the same road, prices have fallen twice as far. A few kilometres away, many servos have passed on less than half that. That raises questions about how much competition motorists are getting away from South Road.

What motorists should do

Prices on the official scheme can change at any time, so check before you drive. Compare current unleaded petrol prices near you, and use the price trends page to see whether your local servos are still easing or have stopped. For anyone in the southern or inner western suburbs, a short detour to South Road could save more than $10 a tank today. I will be watching this week to see whether servos further from South Road follow it down.

Armed with this information, Clarence Park motorists can save 23 cents a litre today by driving 2.3 kilometres from the OTR on Goodwood Road to the Ampol Foodary on South Road.
